Human Rights Congress

01 Dec 2021

The Human Rights Congress with the main theme Freedom of expression and the right to information organized by the Abogacia Foundation.

I had the intellectual pleasure of participating in the Congress for Human Rights of the Abogacía Foundation, a debate in which calculating minds – as the scholar Mircea Malița said – analyzed the complex issue of freedom of expression and the right to information, as well as their limits, the traps of the Internet , the danger of fake news in the networks and how the Truth can be established post factum.

Every speaker was of a high standard and I confess that when I left the Congress I realized that – what most of us think we will experience in the future – we are already living today, that there is no way to go back to a past reality, but to deal with the present we need better education and legislation.

Without rules, without norms to clearly regulate the digital world, the highway is left free for the manipulation of citizens, and the democratic values of our European society are in genuine and real danger.

At the end of the event, I thought about the words of a Client that sometimes laws have little to do with Law itself and I instantly remembered that famous photo from the times of that vulgar transition: We don’t have the Truth… so well, at most, we get to touch a small part of it…
